Jenny Jones Craniosacral Therapy

What is Craniosacral Therapy?

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, non-invasive, non- manipulative, therapy that is safe and effective for all - working sensitively with your body’s innate power to balance, repair and self heal.

CST is named for the craniosacral system: the bones, tissues and fluid that support your nervous system. Like other body systems (cardiovascular, respiratory etc), the craniosacral system has a movement of its own: the craniosacral motion. The bones of the head (cranium) and the base of the spine (sacrum) follow this movement. The free flowing health of this motion expressed through the different fluids and tissues of the body is essential to our well being. Stress, injury, illness, shock and trauma can get held in the body and the Craniosacral motion can become unbalanced and restricted and can lead to physical, mental and emotional problems.

Clients come for varying reasons, some have acute physical conditions such as back pain, neck problems, jaw problems, headaches, migraines etc. Others may come with long standing conditions such as anxiety, depression or sleeping problems. Some clients come for general support and maintenance as they feel it gives them greater capacity to deal with life in general.

You are not a drop in the ocean.

You are the entire ocean in a drop.

Rumi

Every session will feel different, and occasionally difficult buried emotions or sensations may come up - if you can find a little space and time to be with these emotions, it will help to integrate them. Your body will carry on processing the treatment for around 48 hours after the session, so if you can plan to have a quiet day afterwards and an early night and drink lots of water to hydrate- your body will thank you!

If there is a physical injury, sometimes there can be an emotional energy attached to this pain. There may be tissue damage. The area will be tense and stagnant. With a gentle hand and deep listening; tension patterns in the membranes and connective tissues that surround and support the muscles, blood vessels, nerves and organs begin to release.
